It’s March Madness season and I’m thrilled to announce that I’m running a women’s tournament pool for OOYL subscribers! And the best part is that you don’t need to know anything about NCAA women’s basketball to participate!

If you want to participate, join our pool, fill out a bracket (yes, even if you know nothing about NCAA WBB), and follow along. Are you a superfan choosing teams based on rankings and your ball knowledge? Amazing! Are you clueless and choosing teams based on mascots, team colors, or perceived gayness? Perfection! Come be the equivalent of that woman who wins her all-male office bracket pool by choosing teams based on vibes, we will love that for you.

Participants will have access to live watch parties for each round in the OOYL subscriber Discord. The bracket pool is open to subscribers at the All-Access VIP and Biggest Fan subscriber tiers.

You can upgrade here:

The winner will receive a gift package that includes: a copy of the new book Court Queens: Celebrate the Players, Teams, and History of Women’s Basketball; a year’s paid subscription to the rough notes newsletter; a $25 gift card to JustBook-ish, a Black-owned bookstore and literary gathering space in Boston; a “Lesbian Fans Fill Your Stands” print from Snatch Magazine; and a “No One Watches Men’s Sports” mug.

Important Dates:

  • March 15 (Sun): Team selection starting at 8:00 p.m. ET

  • March 20 & 21 (Fri & Sat): First Round

  • March 22 & 23 (Sun & Mon): Second Round

  • March 27 & 28 (Fri & Sat): Sweet Sixteen
