I’ve also been featured a few different places recently. In case you missed any of them:
For The Guardian, I wrote about the Rugby For All organizing to fight the ban on trans women recently passed by the sport’s national governing body. You can read material from the cutting room floor here.
I was interviewed a few weeks back for a piece in The Guardian about the media narrative around Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd. I got a lot of subscribers as a result of that, so if you came here after reading that story, hi!
I was on BBC’s More Than the Score podcast talking about coverage of women’s sports.
Digiday interviewed me about my migration from Substack to Beehiiv.
For Xtra, I wrote about the media’s problem(s) covering women’s sports.
ties were the tunnel star of WNBA opening weekend
I was on a reporting trip in Dallas this weekend (more on that soon) and I’m still recovering from lots of travel and activity. The WNBA opened its season this weekend, which means tunnel fits are BACK. One thing I noticed while scrolling through photos of very tall, very hot women is that there was absolutely a theme when it came to the fashion—ties. There was an abundance of neckties; on femmes, on studs, on gays, on straights.
Because I am old and I’m never sure what is trendy anymore, I wondered whether women’s neckties were a current fashion trend. According to Marie Claire, yes, they are. Obviously the W players would be on-trend. I also noticed a lot of corset tops—Hailey Van Lith managed to combine both trends by wearing a corset with an attached tie.
But because women’s neckties are gay regardless of who is wearing them (I don’t make the rules), here is a rundown of all the players who rocked them for opening weekend.
