straight people need to stop being weird about pazzi

On Monday night, the Dallas Wings selected Azzi Fudd as the number one pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft. While many people projected Fudd to go first overall, the selection wasn’t exactly a lock. That’s because Dallas already has a plethora of star guards, including Paige Bueckers, Fudd’s UConn teammate, longtime best friend, and (as far as we know) girlfriend.
There are plenty of reasons to be excited about Fudd and Bueckers—colloquially known as “Pazzi”—reuniting on the court. The familiarity they have from playing with each other for many years is not something you can manufacture overnight, and Bueckers’s elite shot creation combining with Fudd’s elite shot-making should be fun to watch.
“Everybody knows that [Paige is] someone that makes playing basketball with [her] easy,” Fudd said in a post-draft press conference, “and so I think just the prior experience of knowing how to play with her, play off of her will only help going to this.”
But while being the number one pick in the WNBA should have been Fudd’s moment to shine, her accomplishment has been overshadowed in the media by, quite frankly, very weird commentary about her relationship status. Straight people, are you okay?
(The answer is always no.)
